Length of walk: 8km /1 ½ hours. (If you start at Manot you can cycle/walk by crossing the bridge over the Vienne and taking the road to Chirac (5km). This will add 1 ½ hours to your walk. Terrain: Easy tracks with very short sections of quiet roads from Chirac Parking: Opposite the bar in the village Dogs: May occasionally require a lead for a short time. Refreshments: At the village bar Consider taking a picnic to eat by the river
Direction Les Fougères Walk to the church. Keep the church on your right and down Rue de l’Azur. Cross the little bridge. You immediately enter the hamlet Les Fougères. Follow the chemin des Mardeilles. This trail is marked with a pink paint marker so when you see it marked on trees or posts you can be sure that you are going in the right direction!
After 750m when you arrive at a T junction in the trail, turn left. Follow for 500m when you reach a junction in the trail turn right. In 200 m turn left and after left again in 300 m at a T junction in the trail. In 150m you will reach a lane.
Peyras to the river Turn right at the lane and follow it until you reach a T junction. Turn right and follow the road for 50m until you reach a trail on your right. Follow the trail marked Les Chemins de la Memoire. If you wish, take a moment to pay tribute to two young men who lost their lives here in the 2nd world war. In 750 m the trail becomes a lane and curves left and in 200m reaches a T junction. Turn left and in 50m turn right. In 50m at the T junction turn right into Chemin de Blanches Chambas.
Along the river to Agnas Stay on the lane as it gently drops down to the river. Enjoy the trail for 1.5 km alongside the river. This is a perfect place to enjoy some refreshments. When you reach the mill house and wier the trail climbs away from the river. When you reach the junction, turn left into Agnas. Afer 200 m the lane takes a sharp turn up the hill out of the hamlet. Follow this lane, it becomes a trail when you pass some farm buildings on your right. Keep on the trail for 1km ignoring any turnings to the right or left.
Return to Chirac The view of the village from this part of the trail is very picturesque. When you reach the T junction turn right. This will bring you back to the church.
